Nooma is from the Greek word meaning wind, spirit, or breath.
This Sunday School class is for young adults (college age and
beyond... couples and singles) seeking fellowship and exploring
God's word and striving to become more effective Christian disciples.
Our format is generally a video based lesson with open discussion.
The Disciple Sunday School Class is a mixture of men and women,
married and single (some with kids and grandkids) who gather each
week to explore the truths of Scripture and how it relates to the world
in which we live. They typically chose a topic to study short term
(between 8 and 10 weeks), and they rotate teachers. This group is
active across the life of the church and heads up many of the
fundraising events for various community outreach needs and
The Methodist Open Discussion Class (aka, the MOD Class) is a
mixed group of adults of all ages, male and female. They study and
discuss books of the Bible and the works of Christian authors. They
often choose studies authored by Duke Divinity School Professors,
including the Efird Bible Study. They join in and support almost all
church activities, including VBS where they serve meals to leaders and
participants. They also sponsor the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake
Supper. Friendship and fellowship among class members is important
to them, and they welcome new folks with open arms and open
This class is made up of a group of ladies who are young at
heart and passionate for Jesus! They dive into the Scripture each
week, and seek ways to apply it to make our world a better place.
